Recovery is Non-Negotiable

Effective Recovery is a Precondition to Wellbeing, Performance and Resilience

It’s long been the practice of elite athletes and their coaches to focus on effective recovery in order to ensure the athletes perform at their best and avoid burnout or injury.  They know that rest and recovery are a precondition to success and wellness. Despite working long hours, under significant pressures, most lawyers spend very little time, if any, on ensuring they recharge and recover.

The Justification of a Lack of Time is a False Economy

Many lawyers and judges have good intentions in terms of engaging in activities that promote wellbeing but fail to follow through, often using the justification that they did not have enough time left in the day or week.

We understand how professional and personal commitments can leave very little time at the end of the day, however, the price of not investing time in your recovery is high. The established consequences of insufficient rest and recovery over time include:

  • Burnout

  • Illness and death

  • Depression

  • Lack of engagement and job satisfaction

  • Emotional dysregulation

  • Alcoholism and drug addiction

  • Impaired cognition including focus and memory.

Minimal Time Investment – Maximal Return on Recovery

Science, technology and the practices of elite athletes and Tier 1 military, mean that we now know how to ensure fast and effective recovery through strategies, tactics and tools that only require a few minutes of your time but ensure significant and rapid recovery.

Examples include the 15-minute ancient practice (not meditation) that provides the equivalent of 2-4 hours sleep or the wearable that helps you manage your energy and recover, while you work.

A Comprehensive Approach for Each Stage of Your Day

Many traditional approaches focus on a single daily or weekly practice, often done at the beginning or end of the day. Our tailored approach is designed to ensure efficient energy expenditure and recovery throughout your day. This includes:

  •  Techniques that can be deployed in a minute, just before a hearing or meeting that help ensure you start out calm, alert and focused rather than stressed and anxious.

  • Techniques and wearable technology that enable you to calmly navigate potentially stressful and energy draining curveballs that arise during a hearing or meeting.

  • Techniques and technology that quickly take you from fight or flight to rest and recover mode immediately after a challenging hearing or meeting as well as helping you rapidly recharge at the end of a long workday.

  • Strategies and technology to optimise and monitor your sleep effectiveness. There are always occasions when you are not able to sleep for an optimal period of time but knowing how to optimise your sleep quality can help mitigate the consequences of too little sleep.
